Bodies recovered from Lake Victoria
In order to avoid another occurrence similar to the Rwanda genocide, people have been working to integrate the two ethnic groups. The United States and other powerful countries monitor the Rwandans to prevent any attacks. They also interfere with conflicts between the Hutus and the Tutsis. The Rwandans should work to improve the current situation in their country by maintaining the educational reform that the government is focused on. It is believed that “while reconciliation is difficult to measure, Rwandans are certainly providing a remarkable example of coexistence in the aftermath of genocide, as survivors, bystanders, and perpetrators find ways to live together and move forward as a country” (“15 Years”). Rwanda has greatly improved because its “resilient survivors have created networks across the country, and the government has focused on educational reform, strengthening the health system, and security economic advances.  These remarkable achievements have transformed the country” (“15 Years”). The people of Rwanda remain hopeful that one day their home will be back to normal.
