In July of 1995, there was a military victory by the Rwandan Patriotic Front. This successfully ended the mass murder of 1994. Ever since then, the country of Rwanda has been working to get back on their feet and they are headed in the right direction. The existing government forbids discrimination due to ethnicity, race, or religion. President Bill Clinton issued the Clinton apology four years after the genocide where he made an apology for not attempting to help resolve the problem in Rwanda. Since then, the country has been working to boost investment and agricultural output. People have spoken out in order to “honor the courage and strength of individuals… who survived immense tragedy determined to help rebuild their country” (“Marking”). At the fifteen year anniversary of the genocide, an international audience joined by “Rwandans across the country gathered to commemorate the deaths of at least 500,000 people over 100 days in 1994” (“15 Years”).
